For this photo I wanted to create a point of emphasis with intentional lighting. I deliberately created a cluttered space so that there would be nothing else to signify the intended point. While I think that I succeeded at this, at what cost did I do so. While the lighting may be intentional, I personally don't find it incredibly motivated.
For this image, the idea was to create a point of emphasis with framing. Do I feel that I succeeded? Short answer? No. Long answer? Very no. I asked my wife what she thought the point of emphasis could be and she pointed to every other part of the picture before the (flower), which was the correct (answer). I learned from it though, I though the framing would be enough to create the point of emphasis but I forgot to worry about the composition of the rest of the image that could distract. So I need the whole image to be intentional for the intended bits to work. If I took this image again I would be a little less subtle with it.
I set out to use line to create point of emphasis in this case and, by golly, I did it. I defy you to find a single line here that does not point towards that pole (there may actually be some, please don't try). I also definitely helps that the point of emphasis is also the only vibrant color in the image. But, while it does accomplish the intended purpose, it also beats you over the head with it. I would likely not use this strong an emphasis with line in practical application except in decidedly extreme cases.

One thing I would suggest you should've done is have a more narrow light so that the other subjects on the table would be less exposed. Or maybe you could've increased the contrast and black point while editing, so that the outside objects wouldn't be seen as much. But regardless of that, I liked how you used this technique to portray your point of emphasis.
For your second photo, I appreciate your creativity in putting your point of emphasis (flower) into the bracket of the bench. I think if you framed it to be at the middle third,…
